Wallpaper Engine review

Wallpaper Engine is an early access application on Steam that enables you to create, display, and share customer static and animated wallpapers.

I stumbled upon Wallpaper Engine while browsing the top sellers on Steam. The app was listed there next to games, and that got me interested as it takes quite a bit of sales to be featured there.

First of all, Wallpaper Engine is not free. It is available for $3.99 as an early access title. The application works really well for early access software, and all core functionality is already there.

Nvidia Driver 378.78 big DirectX 12 improvements

Nvidia released a new driver for GeForce video cards yesterday that bumps the version to 378.78 and improves DX12 performance significantly.

The new video card driver ships with three core improvements; namely, DirectX 12 optimizations, support for the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, and Game Ready support for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands.

The driver includes several fixes furthermore that may be of interest as well.

Microsoft releases yet another botched driver (WPD)

Reports are starting to come in that Microsoft released -- yet another -- mysterious driver for the Windows operating system.

The driver, Microsoft – WPD – 2/22/2016 12:00:00 AM – 5.2.5326.4762, has been released for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.

At least some users are reporting issues with the drivers, from failed installations to mobile devices no longer being recognized by the Windows machine the update was installed on.

The developers of the popular third-party text editor Notepad++ released version 7.3.3 which fixes a vulnerability found in the leaked Vault 7 files.

Wikileaks started to release so-called Vault 7 files the other day; a cache of confidential documents on the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.

The death of Classic Theme Restorer for Firefox

The Classic Theme Restorer add-on for Firefox will stop working when Mozilla releases Firefox 57.0 Stable, and Firefox 59.0 ESR.

Classic Theme Restorer was developed as a direct response to Mozilla refreshing Firefox with the Australis theme release in Firefox 29.

The add-on allows Firefox users to restore many theme features that Mozilla removed and changed with the Australis launch, or introduced with it.
