Papaly, a Cloud-based Bookmarks Manager

Papaly is a new cloud-based bookmark manager that you can use directly on the web or in form of a Chrome extension.

The only online bookmarks manager that I ever used for an extended period of time was Delicious when it first launched.

I never used Google Bookmarks and the core reason for that was that Google did not really seem to care about the service at all. I find it astonishing that the company has not sacked it yet.

Chrome 41 displays website contents 10% faster on average

As you may know, I'm currently on a rather slow connection as my main Internet connection is still down (six days and counting). Since the connection is a lot slower, I notice slow loading websites and pages more than before.

Some sites seem to take forever before they start to display contents while others load more or less the same as before.

Find out how color blind people see websites

As a webmaster, you have to manage, test and take care of a lot of things. One core area is accessibility of the website. Accessibility covers a broad range of different topics, from making sure that the site displays fine regardless of device screen size over  over backwards compatibility with older browsers and devices to following guidelines.

Hangar for Android displays app shortcuts in the notification area

Most Android users start applications from their device's start screen or the all applications listing.

Launchers are designed to make this more comfortable, for instance to provide access to all applications from anywhere on the system.

Hangar is such a launcher app that attaches app shortcuts to Android's notification bar. Since notifications are accessible regardless of what you do on the device, it provides you with quick access to often used or popular applications.

Display a program’s startup impact on Windows 8 or 10

It is common sense that any program that autostarts with the Windows operating system extends the startup process. Depending on the program, its impact may be small and barely noticeable or high and thus noticeable.

Most programs that add entries to Windows' various autostart locations don't really need to be started. In fact, even if you would disable them all, you could use the system just like before.

Logitech’s MX Master mouse: control up to three devices

Functionality-wise, computer mice have not changed this much in recent time. Apart from different button layouts and programmable buttons, there has not been much change at all in this area.

Logitech's MX Master Wireless Mouse changes that. It ships with a unique feature that allows you to control up to three devices that you have paired the mouse with.

How to turn off images in Firefox

Turning off images is probably not something that most Internet users would consider but it may make sense at times.

One reason why you might want to disable the loading of images is speed. More precisely, the loading time of websites.

While that depends on each individual site you visit, there is barely a site on the Internet that does not use images.

Since images can be quite large, especially if they are not optimized, it may slow down the loading of web pages.

After two years, Microsoft makes up its mind how to call Windows Apps

One of the most confusing things I experienced in recent time was to understand how Microsoft called applications installed from Windows Store and the Start Screen interface officially.

So many names were floating around that it seemed that even Microsoft was not sure how to name apps or the new interface.

It all started with Metro apps for instance but Microsoft could not use that term and switched to others as a consequence. Problem here was that the company used several terms instead, for instance Windows Store Apps or Modern UI Apps which was highly confusing.

Process Lasso 8 review

Some processes on a computer are more important than others, regardless how you are using your computer. This may be foreground applications like web browsers or development environments, resource taxing games or Internet streams, or background processes that need to run all the time.

Secure your wireless router

There is no such thing as perfect security. Given enough knowledge, resources, and time any system can be compromised. The best you can do is to make it as difficult for an attacker as possible. That said there are steps you can take to harden your network against the vast majority of attacks.
