My Last Search reveals what you searched for on the Internet

My Last Search is a free portable program for the Windows operating system that retrieves and displays the search history of popular browsers on the system.

My Last Search may be useful if you want to get a quick overview of searches conducted on a system running Windows, either done by yourself or by other users on the system.

The program supports several popular web browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, and several search engines and other Internet sites.

Why it pays to read the privacy policy before you sign up for a service

I browse the Firefox add-on store regularly to find out what is new and updated. Discovered the add-on Zapyo in the store which promises "Internet without restrictions".

It is not only available for Firefox but for all major browsers including Chrome and Internet Explorer.

The service is not offering VPN-like functionality but acts as a proxy for users so that blocked or restricted contents can be accessed (so that traffic flows through their servers).

Newsbot for Chrome: get related news and follow as stories unfold

The Chrome extension Newsbot made the rounds on Product Hunt earlier today and I decided to take it for a spin.

It promises to find related news from a short list of popular -- but not necessarily always the best -- sources. Sources include magazines like the New York Times or The Guardian, blogs like The Verge or Ars Technica, company blogs like the official Google Blog, and a selection of other resources including Hacker News, Adweek and Fast Company.

Windows 10 Bug: DoSVC files occupy all hard drive space

So I started my PC running Windows 10 as usual and noticed on Steam that there was an update for Team Fortress 2 available.

The update would not complete and the error message returned was that there was not enough disk space available to apply it.

This on a 160 Gigabyte Solid State Drive with Windows 10, some apps and two Steam games installed. Something was not right and I decided to investigate to find out more about that.

Microsoft details which features Windows 10 Home and Pro users don’t get

If you plan to buy Windows 10 when it comes out, either retail, as a system builder copy or through a PC or tablet, you have the choice between Windows 10 Home and Pro as a consumer.

These are the two main retail versions of Windows 10 and naturally, they differ in some aspects. While Microsoft has not revealed official pricing yet, it is likely that it will match that of Windows 8.1, so that retail copies of Windows 10 Home will be available for $119 and of Windows 10 Pro for $199 in the US.

Firefox 39: Find out what is new

Mozilla planned to release Firefox 39 on Tuesday but a last minute bug in the application required fixing so that the release has been delayed for later this week. In case you are wondering what this is all about, you find information about the malware-related issue on Bugzilla.

This is one of the cases where you may run into issues when you are downloading builds of Firefox from third-party download sites as you would have downloaded the version with the bug.

Medium launches password-less sign ins: good or bad?

The publishing platform Medium announced today that it has improved sign-up options for users of its service.

It added an option to sign-up via email besides options to sign-up using a Facebook or Twitter account.

Instead of linking Twitter or Facebook accounts to the Medium account, it is now possible to use any email address to sign up and create an account instead.

Computerbase: you have 30 days to downgrade Windows 10

Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users who upgrade their machines to Microsoft's upcoming operating system Windows 10 have 30 days to downgrade to the old system again according to German computer magazine Computerbase.

What happens when you upgrade your PC running an earlier version of Windows 10 and you don't like it or did so in error? That's one of several questions that Computerbase answers in a new post on its website.

What’s going to happen to Windows 7 and 8 when Windows 10 comes out?

Microsoft's newest version of Windows for desktop PCs and tablets is going to be released on July 29, 2015. The company is working on Windows 10 as we speak and has yet to pick a suitable RTM candidate so that the system can go in production and be made available to partners, hardware manufacturers and eventually end users.

You can block WebRTC from leaking your IP now in uBlock Origin

Ublock is without doubt a popular extension for Firefox and Chrome that blocks network requests and popups, and modifies DOM requests on sites you visit to block advertisement, malicious content and other -- often -- undesirable content on the web.

While there is some confusion involved when it comes to picking the right release, there is uBlock and uBlock Origin for instance, it is clear that the two extensions are not identical.
