Chrome's stripping of trivial domain parts is broken

Google Chrome 69 landed recently and with it came a change that hides information in the browser's address bar on the desktop.

Chrome 68 and earlier displayed the full web address all the time in the address bar but that is no longer the case in Chrome 69 as Google implemented two changes of which one has far reaching consequences.

Extended Security Updates for Windows 7 and Longer Windows 10 servicing

Microsoft made two important announcements today on the company's Microsoft 365 blog that change support periods for Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems under certain conditions.

There, Jared Spataro, Corporate Vice President for Office and Windows Marketing, revealed that companies may extend the extended support period of the Windows 7 operating system by three years and that Enterprise and Education editions of Windows 10 may switch to a 30 month lasting support interval.

Paint.net 4.1 update brings lots of improvements

Paint.net 4.1 is out; the new version of the popular image editor for Windows introduces new functionality and changes that improve the user experience.

The new version is the first desktop release in more than six months. The developer of the image editor released two new versions of Paint.net in January 2018 but those have been the only two updates for the program up until the release of Paint.net 4.1.

Paint.net 4.0.20, released in January 2018 was a big release as well. It introduced support for a dark theme and other improvements.

uTorrent Web launches

Bittorrent Inc, which was recently sold, has launched the first public version of uTorrent Web, a web-based torrent client optimized for streaming media.

While uTorrent is under heavy criticism ever since Bittorrent Inc began integrating adware, offers, advertisement and other unwanted things in the client, it is up to this day a very popular client for seeding and downloading torrent files.

Tor Browser 8.0 is a big update

The Tor Project team has released Tor Browser 8.0, a brand new version of the web browser to the public today.

Tor Browser is based on Mozilla Firefox; more precisely on Mozilla's Extended Support Release version of the Firefox web browser. Tor Browser includes Tor which users of the web browser can use to connect to the Tor network to anonymize their Internet connection and various improvements especially when it comes to online privacy.
