Browse and download all Bing homepage wallpapers

One of the features that distinguishes Microsoft's Bing search engine from Google Search is the homepage image that the site displays each day on its start page.

Depending on which version of Bing you open, you may even get a direct option to download the wallpaper of the day to the local system.

While that seems only supported in some regional versions, especially the US-English version of Bing, it is still possible to download images directly using your web browser of choice.

Firefox users for instance would right-click on the image, select view background image from the context menu, and save the image that is displayed then in a new tab.

You can browse to previous images as well, but that is not the most comfortable thing to do.

The Bing Homepage Gallery offers a better option. It displays all images that Microsoft displayed on its US Bing search engine in the past five years.

The page displays a selection of the most recent images at the top and options to filter images in various ways including by category, color, tag, place or color.

If you scroll down, you will notice that new image thumbnails get displayed all the time until you reach the very first image that has been the homepage image of Bing on June 3, 2009.

To download a wallpaper, click on it to display it in full size and click on the download button next to it. Please note that downloads are not available for all images displayed on the gallery.

You will also notice that Microsoft prevents the right-click context menu from being displayed on the page. You can overcome this by installing Allow Right-Click for Chrome or RightToClick for Firefox which enable the right-click context menu again on those pages.

The filtering options provided on Bing's Homepage Gallery are comprehensive and provide you with lots of options to limit images to ones that you are looking for. One thing that is missing though is a search which is kinda strange considering that Bing is a search engine first and foremost.

Microsoft has published a wallpaper pack as well that features a selection of popular wallpapers from 2013 which you can download as a pack from the company's website.
