Audentify identifies artist and song of YouTube videos

If you are a regular on the video hosting website YouTube, you may have had issues identifying music used in some of the videos.

This is generally not a problem for single music videos, as they are properly tagged more often than not, but it is an issue for many non-music videos that get uploaded to YouTube as no information about the music used in them may be listed in the description or title.

If you have a YouTube account, you may sometimes want to ask the author of the video about it and if you are lucky, may even get an answer that helps you out.

How to lock down your Android Wi-Fi settings to improve privacy

The Electronic Frontier Foundation discovered that the majority of Android devices were leaking Wi-Fi connection history data to anyone within range.

This location history contains the names of Wi-Fi networks that the device has been connected to in the past. While it may contain cryptic names, it may also contain names such as "Home", "London Heathrow Airport" or "Tom's Mancave" that can be easily identified location-wise.

Browse and download all Bing homepage wallpapers

One of the features that distinguishes Microsoft's Bing search engine from Google Search is the homepage image that the site displays each day on its start page.

Depending on which version of Bing you open, you may even get a direct option to download the wallpaper of the day to the local system.

While that seems only supported in some regional versions, especially the US-English version of Bing, it is still possible to download images directly using your web browser of choice.

Screenhero: share your screen with someone else

Back in the old days when you needed to collaborate with someone or a team, the best option you had was to be in the same room to make that happen.

The Internet changed that for the better, with services such as Google Docs or Office 365 offering collaboration capabilities to work on the same document at the same time regardless of location in the world.

Screenhero is an interesting collaborative screen sharing application for Windows and Mac that looks similar to remote desktop applications on first glance.

AnyDesk: remote desktop software by ex-TeamViewer employees

AnyDesk is a new remote desktop software developed by ex-TeamViewer employees that has been released as a beta recently.

TeamViewer, best known for its ease of use that gets rid of most technicalities such as IP addresses, firewalls or ports is one of the most popular programs in the remote desktop market.

The main idea behind AnyDesk was to deliver the same level of comfort in terms of use but to improve the technical side of things.

FVD downloader for Chrome latest extension to inject ads on websites

Buying successful extensions and adding monetization options to them, usually in the form of ad injections on websites users visit, seems to be a profitable business model.

While it is unclear if the company controlling the popular FDV Downloader extension for Chrome has changed, it is confirmed that it has started to inject advertisement on web pages you visit.

Make a secondary monitor the primary one with TVGameLauncher

Most televisions can be connected to computer systems these days. This is usually done via HDMI and really easy, as you only need to connect the TV to the computer using a HDMI cable.

Once done, the TV should show up as a secondary monitor on your system so that you can use it for most activities right out of the box.

Depending on where PC and TV are located, you may use PC input devices to control what is going on, or use a controller instead if they are not next to each other.

All you need to know about Google’s Account History feature

Most online companies make available privacy related settings that their customers can modify to their liking. The default settings are often less than optimal and making sure that everything is set up properly is one of the first things that you should do.

In fact, it is also important to check those settings regularly just to make sure nothing has changed.

Mozilla plans to release Electrolysis (multi-process architecture) with Firefox 36

Electrolysis (e10s) is one of the core improvements for Firefox that Mozilla is currently working on. The feature adds so-called multi-process support to Firefox in a way similar to how Chromium-based browsers make use of it already.

A multi-process architecture that separates the browser's core from open websites and plugin contents improves not only the stability of the browser but also the security of it.

This should not be confused with sandboxing though even though Electrolysis is the gateway to make that happen later on.
