Elephant is an open source, cross platform note taking application

Jotting down notes is a great way to remember things to do, and can help increase your productivity. We have reviewed a handful of note taking applications here like Notes, QOwnNotes, Tomboy-ng to name a few.

NV Updater (Nvidia Driver Updater) 0.4.0.1 released to customize Nvidia driver installations

We reviewed NV Updater, a tool to customize installations of Nvidia drivers by blocking certain unwanted components from being installed with the driver, in February 2020.

The developer of the application released version 0.4.0.1 recently and with it a good selection of additional components that administrators may block from being installed.

ClipClip is a freeware clipboard monitoring tool that has a built-in text and image editor

ClipClip is a freeware clipboard monitoring tool that offers more than your traditional clipboard application does. In addition to storing text clips, it comes with a built-in text and image editor.

We have reviewed our fair share of Clipboard enhancing programs over the years. Some of our favorites are Clipboard Master, CopyQ, and Clipboard Help+Spell.

What is Opera Browser Assistant and how to disable it?

If you have a version of the Opera web browser installed on your devices there is a chance that Opera Browser Assistant is running. Additionally, you may also notice, at least on Windows, that Opera Browser Assistant is an entry in the startup settings of the operating system which means that it is launched whenever Windows starts.

Having a resource available offline is often a good idea as you can access it at any time without having to worry about Internet connectivity or availability of the resource on the Internet. All modern web browsers support basic functionality to save webpages to the local system.

Google Chrome will block all "insecure downloads" in the near future

Google plans to block all insecure downloads in coming versions of the company's Google Chrome browser. Insecure downloads, according to Google, are downloads that originate from HTTPS websites that are not served via HTTPS. The decision won't affect sites that are still accessed via HTTP.

Add a "real" search box to Google Chrome's New Tab Page

Google's Chrome web browser displays a search field on the New Tab Page of the web browser by default. Users of the web browser may have noticed three things: first, that the search field is not displayed if most search engines are selected, second, that customization options are only provided if Google is selected as the search provider, and third, that the search field is fake.

Note: If you select Bing Search, you may notice that the search field is not fake. It works just like the search box on the Bing homepage.

Media Player Classic MPC-HC 1.9.0 update brings dark theme support

The developers of the Media Player Classic application MPC-HC (Media Player Classic Home Cinema) have released version 1.9.0 of the media player for all supported operating systems.

Downloads for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows systems are provided on the official GitHub download page of the project. The built-in update checker, if enabled, should inform users about the new version as well.
