Soccer Scores: football app for Android

Soccer Scores - FotMob is one of the most popular and highly rated football applications for Android devices.

The free application provides you with options to follow your favorite teams and leagues, get news, fixtures, live text commentary, live scores, match stats and more.

Note: The app displays advertisement by default but you can make an in-app purchase to buy the premium version for €2.99 which gets rid of all applications and supports push notifications on top of that.

Microsoft gamifies Windows 10 bug hunting

Microsoft promised to deliver builds faster to Windows 10 insiders and it certainly kept its word so far as Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14332 has just been released.

Considering that the company released a massive update in the beginning of April already, it is understandable that this new build concentrates mostly on bug fixes and improvements rather than another batch of new features.

Dropbox gets placeholder feature

Dropbox announced Project Infinity today which brings local and online storage closer together by making all non-synced files available as placeholders on local devices.

Sounds familiar? Microsoft's implementation of OneDrive on Windows 8 supported placeholders but the company made the decision to remove the feature again stating that it confused users.

Dropbox goes a step further than that by making it a feature designed specifically for teams and large online storage repositories.

Vivaldi 1.1 Update is out

The first stable version of the Vivaldi web browser is less than a month old, and the team has already released an update that brings the version to 1.1.

Installed copies of the browser should pick up the new version automatically already so that you can use the dialog to download and install Vivaldi 1.1 to the system. If the version is not picked up yet, select Vivaldi menu > Help > Check for updates to run a manual check for updates instead.

A closer look at Opera’s Browser VPN

Opera Software launched what it calls a Browser VPN or just VPN depending on where you find it in the browser in a recent developer edition of the web browser.

Browser VPN can be enabled in Opera with a simple check of a box in the browser's settings, and then turned on or off on the frontend.

It protects traffic by using encryption which improves both the privacy and security while using the browser.

Firefox 46: Find out what is new

Firefox 46.0 was released on April 26, 2016 to the stable channel. The new version of the web browser is offered as an update or as a separate download from the Mozilla website.

Firefox releases run in sync which means that all channels of the web browser are updated at the same time and moved up a version in the process.

Apart from Firefox 46 Stable, this means that Firefox Beta 47, Firefox Developer Edition 48, and Firefox Nightly 49 have also been released.

Open365: open source Office 365 alternative

Open365 is an open source Office 365 alternative that allows you to edit or create documents online, and to sync files with the cloud.

The service is in beta currently but you can sign up for it already on the official website. You may use it using a web browser, download clients for Windows, Mac or Linux desktop machines, or for Android. An iOS client is in the making currently and will be made available as well soon.

Open 365 offers two main features that you can make use of. First, it enables you to synchronize files between devices you use and the cloud.

Microsoft Surface Diagnostic Toolkit

Microsoft Surface Diagnostic Toolkit is included in Surface Tools for IT, a package of tools designed for IT professionals to deploy, manage and secure Surface devices in organizations.

The toolkit is compatible with devices running Windows 10 and 8.1, and compatible with all Surface Pro devices, Surface 3, and Surface Book.

The download page on Microsoft's website reveals little information about each of the utilities included in the tools collection.

Amazon Prime Video without Silverlight in Firefox

Firefox users will soon be able to play Amazon Prime Video without requiring the Microsoft Silverlight plugin to do so.

Mozilla, just like Google and Microsoft, plans to remove support for so-called NPAPI plugins in Firefox. Google actually blocked these types of plugins already in Chrome, and Microsoft did the same for them in the company's new Edge browser.

This old architecture enables support for Flash, Java, Silverlight and other plugins in the browser so that web services can make use of them, for instance to stream video to the browser.
