How to download all Windows Spotlight images

Windows Spotlight is a fairly new feature that is exclusively available on devices running Windows 10 that changes the lockscreen experience by displaying new images on a regular basis with options to leave feedback for each image displayed this way.

These wallpaper images are similar but not necessarily identical to the images that Microsoft displays on the startpage of its Bing search engine.

If you like those images, you may want to set them as the desktop background on your computer system as well and maybe even if you don't run Windows 10.

Reset Microsoft Edge in Windows 10

The following guide walks you through the steps of resetting the Microsoft Edge web browser in Windows 10.

It describes a soft reset which will only delete data added to the browser during use, and a hard reset which removes Microsoft Edge from the computer system and adds it again in its pristine form afterwards.

Microsoft Edge, like any other browser installed on your system, can fail or throw errors. Maybe it is not starting at all anymore, displaying error messages when you are using it, or behaving erratically in other ways.

Disable “show notifications” prompts in Google Chrome

Websites may use a technology called Push API to display prompts to the user on visits to allow them to push notifications to the browser.

The new technology is on the rise thanks to the recent integration in browsers such as Firefox or Google Chrome.

Password mistakes that increase the chance of getting hacked

Selecting a secure, unique password is not science, but it can be a frustrating experience for Internet users especially if they don't use a password manager program to assist them in the task.

To make matters worse, there is no clear definition of when a password is considered safe (from brute force or guessing attempts) which means it is up to you to select a minimum character length and character set for your passwords.

Configure Microsoft Translator for Android for offline use

Microsoft Translator's latest feature on Android adds offline translation capabilities to the application. This means that Android users can use it in situations where Internet is not available at all, or not reliable enough to send and receive data from a server when it is needed.

The app ships with English offline translation by default but you may add other languages to the app.

New Windows 10 Insider Preview 14267 brings Edge improvements

The last Insider Preview builds that Microsoft released to the Fast Ring were rather uneventful as they did not introduce new features or major changes to the operating system.

This changes with today's release of Windows 10 Insider Preview build 14267 to the Fast Ring, as it introduces several new features and fixes to the operating system.

Fast Ring is the cutting edge development channel that the public has access to. There is also the Slow Ring which gets fewer builds, and a new Release Preview ring which gets even fewer builds than the Slow Ring.

Remove old Wireless networks in Windows 10

Whenever you connect to a wireless network using a device running Windows 10, a profile is saved to the computer.

That's useful if you need to connect to the network again in the future as it makes that operation easier, especially if the access password is saved as well.

While that is useful, wireless network profiles are not removed from the list of profiles after time has passed.

That may not be a big issue either, but if you like things tidy, or prefer to remove old information from the operating system, then you may want to remove these old network information.

This is the new addons.mozilla.org style that will go live soon

Mozilla plans to release a new style for addons.mozilla.org (AMO) when Firefox 48 hits the stable channel which, if things go as planned, will be on August 2, 2016.

It is rather surprising that Mozilla neglected AMO for the most part. The last major change that took place on the main hub for all things Firefox add-ons dates back to 2011.

Surprising, because one of Firefox's greatest strengths is its add-on ecosystem and the extensions that are created for the web browser.

First look at “make page mobile-friendly” in Chrome Dev for Android

Mobile-Friendly View is a new feature of Google Chrome Dev for Android that users of the mobile browser can use to turn pages that are not optimized for mobile access into pages that are.

Not every web page on the Internet is optimized for mobile access. This is especially true for pages that have not been optimized in a long while.

While you can usually access these pages on mobile devices, you will more often than not notice that it is difficult to access the main content of those pages.
