Windows 10 Creators Update: official upgrade options on April 5th

Microsoft plans to release the Windows 10 Creators Update on April 11, 2017. The day coincides with April's Patch Tuesday, and marks the beginning of the roll out phase of the Creators Update.

Roll out phase means that Microsoft will release the update gradually to the Windows 10 population through Windows Update. The company did the same when it released the Anniversary Update, and that took some time to reach all user devices (weeks, in some cases months)

Chrome’s JavaScript popups handling changes

Google implemented a change in Chrome's JavaScript popup handling behavior recently that restricts JavaScript popups.

The change, which landed in Chrome Canary and Dev already, improves the handling of JavaScript alert(), confirm() and prompt() dialogs that pages may throw in the browser.

Chrome up until now, and that is still true for Chrome Stable and Beta, handled these JavaScript dialogs per browser-window.

Email archiving software MailStore Home 10.1 is out

MailStore Home 10.1 is the latest version of the popular email archiving and backup software for Microsoft Windows devices.

The new version of the program features search improvements, and some other changes that are useful to users of the program.

Existing users may run a check for updates from within the application. A click on the check for updates button on the application's dashboard runs an update check. The new MailStore Home 10.1 should pop up then automatically as a new version, and an option to download and install it should be displayed as well.

EditBone is now called Text Editor Pro

Text Editor Pro, formerly known as EditBone, is a free multi-purpose plain text and code editor for Microsoft Windows devices.

We have reviewed EditBone back in 2013 and found it to be an excellent editor especially for programmers due to its support for over 50 different programming and scripting languages.

Support for languages such as C++, Java, HTML or CSS comes in form of styles that the editor applies automatically to the code to improve readability.

Malwarebytes releases another beta to fix Malwarebytes 3 issues

Security company Malwarebytes has released another beta version for its flagship product Malwarebytes 3 to fix long-standing issues in the program.

Malwarebytes 3, a new product born out of the ashes of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Anti-Exploit, and Anti-Ransomware, has been plagued by bugs ever since its release.

As a Malwarebytes user myself, I have been plagued with issues ever since I updated the software to version 3. Probably the biggest issue that I experienced was that some protection modules failed to turn on at times.

TreeSize Free 4.0 is out

TreeSize Free 4.0 is the latest free for personal use version of the popular disk space distribution analysis software for Microsoft Windows devices.

The program tries to answer one simple question: where did all the free disk space go? We reviewed TreeSize Free back in 2010 for the first time, and found it to be a powerful program to analyze storage devices in regards to used disk space.

The free version of TreeSize does not follow the same update schedule as the commercial personal and professional versions. It is the first release in over a year.

Bandizip 6.0 is out with new interface

Bandizip 6.0, a new version of the archive software for Windows, has been released featuring a new user interface, and other changes.

I switched to Bandizip in 2014 as it supported features that 7-Zip, the program that I used up to that point, failed to introduce much needed features quickly enough.

The company responsible for Bandizip released beta versions of the program in 2016.
