BitTorrent Shoot promises secure photo sharing on Android, iOS and Windows

Sharing photos is quite easy with modern phones as most ship with options to upload photos to the cloud automatically either by using a service by the phone's maker, the maker of the underlying operating system, or a third-party application that offers that functionality.

Most have in common that photos are transferred to third-party servers that you don't have full control over. While that may not be an issue for some photos you take, you may not want other photos to appear on the web, even in your own account.

Add sticky notes and more to the Windows desktop with PNotes.NET

I reviewed PNotes (without the .NET) back in 2009 and liked the functionality of the portable program a lot. It allowed you to post sticky notes to the Windows desktop, use formatting options, enable notifications and more all with a low memory footprint.

PNotes.NET by the same author is a rewrite of the original note taking and posting application for Windows that, as the name suggests, requires the Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0.

The program supports all the functionality that the classic PNotes program supported and additional features that it did not support.

How to close open tabs in Google Chrome for Android 5.0 and higher

I'm using various web browsers on my Moto G device running Android 5.0.2 including Google Chrome and Firefox. The reason I do that is that I check these browsers out regularly to check out new features and stay up to date with their development.

Lately, I have started to use Google Chrome regularly on the device and one thing that I had lots of trouble with initially was to find a way to close open tabs in the browser.

How to request files on Dropbox

Dropbox introduced a new file request feature yesterday for free and pro accounts that allows you to request files from other users of the service and even from people who don't have an account yet on the site.

You had to use other means of communication up until now to request files. Maybe you have used email for that, chat on social networking sites, a phone call or went to someone in person to request the files.

How to disable autoplaying videos on Twitter

If you have been to Twitter recently you may have noticed an auto-playing video on the site. Twitter, just like Facebook earlier, introduced auto-playing videos to the site recently.

Auto-play has been designed by the site to make things more comfortable for its users by starting to play videos right when they become visible. Auto-play on Twitter means that video contents start to play automatically with sound enabled. Sound will only turn on when you tap or click on the video, otherwise the video will stay muted.

Microsoft releases batch of non-security patches for Windows (June 2015)

Firefox 41: Live Search Suggestions in the address bar

You get suggestions whenever you type in the address bar of the Firefox web browser which are displayed in a small overlay window as you type.

Suggestions are currently limited to bookmarks, the browsing history and open websites in tabs in the browser but will soon include live search suggestions on top of that provided that the feature is supported by the selected search engine.

Find and replace text with WildGem for Windows

WildGem is a free powerful text finder and replacement tool for Windows that supports regular expressions and real-time previews.

Most text editors for Windows support find and replace functionality that allow you to replace select text in a document loaded in the editor.

While that is often sufficient when it comes to basic operations, you may sometimes require a system that is more powerful than that, and this is what WildGem offers.

Save Windows 10 apps to other drives

The following guide provides you with instructions on how to move individual apps already installed on a machine running Windows 10 to another system, and to set the default save location for all newly installed or deployed apps on the system to another drive.

If you are low on space on drive c, or require space for other activities, then you may want to save programs and apps to another drive.
