How Microsoft wants to make email more effective
Email is still strong when it comes to communicating with others on the Internet, especially in business but also elsewhere.
It has been around for a long time and has not changed all that much in that time especially when it comes to inbox management and how data is handled.
For instance, a typical workflow looks like the following: you get an email with a work file attached to it that you should read, edit and transfer back.

We all know by now that Windows 10 will ship with a new default browser that Microsoft calls Edge.
While it won't be the only browser that ships with the system, as Internet Explorer is still available for legacy applications, it will be at the center stage of Windows 10.
If you compare what Microsoft Edge delivers right now to Internet Explorer, you will notice that Edge is as bare bones as it gets in many regards.
First look at Gog Galaxy Beta client
The gaming online store Gog.com announced in mid-2014 that it would release a DRM-free Steam, uPlay and Origin alternative called Galaxy in the near future.
What made this particularly interesting, apart from the fact that the company would keep true to its no-DRM policy, was that Galaxy would be offered as an optional and not a mandatory component.

If there is one thing that Google could improve on YouTube it is making it easier to discover new interesting videos on the site.
Sure, you get recommended videos when you search and a couple of categories that you can browse through but that is more or less all there is.

Mozilla drops support for binary components in extensions
In what appears to be a rather rushed decision, Mozilla disabled supported for binary XPCOM components in extensions in the Gecko engine when Firefox 40 is released.
While it is being introduced with the release of Firefox 40 Stable, it will affect all Gecko-based programs including Mozilla Thunderbird.
KeePass Helper adds hostname information to page titles in Firefox
One of the great features of the password manager KeePass is its support for a global login shortcut. This speeds up the login process on websites and in applications as you just have to press Ctrl-Alt-a to fill out the sign in form on the site or application instead of having to copy and paste username and password manually into the form.
Plugins are provided for various browsers which improves the integration of the password manager in the browser.
TestTube lets you join experiments on YouTube
TestTube is a new experimental page on YouTube that lists some of the experimental new features that Google is currently testing on the site.
Google likes to test new features in so-called labs before it decides whether to make them available to all users on a site.

Sunshine: Share Files without cloud storage
Sunshine is a free application for Android and iOS devices as well as Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X that enables you to share files of any size directly between devices and with friends.
It can sometimes be difficult to share large files with others or transfer them from one device to the next.
For instance, if you have a large video on your Android device that you want to share with your friends, you'd be hard pressed to find a good way to do so.
Sure, some cloud storage providers might be suitable candidates but that would mean storing the file in the cloud.

The fastest way to shut down your Windows PC
Sometimes, you may want to shut down your PC fast. Maybe a police swat team is banging at your door, your mom is about to enter the room while you are browsing sites that you should not be browsing, or you need to be somewhere fast and cannot simply wait for the computer to shut down the usual way.
There are a couple of methods to shut down Windows faster than usual. Most Windows users are probably using the start menu for that.
Depending on the version you are using, it means some mouse movement and a couple of clicks to turn off the PC.

Top alternatives for Windows Media Center
Now that Microsoft confirmed that Windows Media Center won't be part of Windows 10, it is time to look at suitable alternatives for the build in program.
Microsoft called Windows Media Center an "entertainment system" for the whole PC. It supported the recording of HDTV (with the correct equipment), playback of media, music playback, photo streams and online streaming.
