Paste Passwords into blocked form fields on the Internet

Most Internet services don't prevent you from pasting information into password fields or other form fields on websites.

Some on the other hand restrict pasting to select fields or none at all, which means that you need to fill out those fields manually as you cannot use copy and paste to do so.

That's at least how it looks like on first glance. One example that I encountered just recently. I added a couple of items to a cart on this site and was asked to create an account to complete the purchase.

Registrar improves the default Windows Registry Manager tenfold

The Windows Registry Manager, much like many other tools that ship natively with the Windows operating system, is limited in many ways.

While it is okay-ish for editing or creating keys or values in the Registry, this too is not optimized, something that could easily be improved with little resources.

How to enable MSE & H2.64 support on YouTube for Firefox right now

When you open YouTube's HTML5 page in the most recent stable version of Firefox right now, you will notice that support is not available for all technologies listed on the page.

Support may be available for HTMLVideoElement, H.264 and WebM VP8, but not for Media Source Extensions, MSE & H.264 or MSE & WebM VP9.

A configuration option is available to enable Media Source Extensions and MSE & WebM VP9 right now in the Firefox browser.

Firefox: cut the tie and remove all things Google

Google's primary business is advertisement even though it is spreading out to other industries as well. One thing that all advertising companies do is to try and get as many information about users as possible.

This profiling enables them to charge more money for ads, as they know more about individual users which in turn allows them to display targeted ads to them.

A first look at Driver Booster 2

Never change a running system, that's an answer that you get quite often when you ask tech-savvy users if you should upgrade software running on a computer.

This is especially the case for drivers, and here in particular system drivers. Should you update drivers of the Serial ATA Controller or PCI Express Chipset, or better keep them as is and avoid any issues that may occur after updating those drivers?

Mozilla changes Private Browsing Clipboard handling in Firefox 33

If you copy data from a private browsing window to the clipboard and close the private browsing window afterwards, you will notice that the data is not there anymore.

Firefox empties the clipboard whenever you exit private browsing mode. You can test this easily by opening a new private window in Firefox using the shortcut Ctrl-Shift-p, copying text displayed on the introductory page, closing the window again, and trying to paste the copied text to a regular browser window or text document.

The result is that it won't work since there is no data to paste anymore.

Reddit launches Live, a real-time update tool

I'm spending quite some time on Reddit. During the Football World Cup, I monitored match threads and discussions closely for example, and one thing that became apparent quickly was that Reddit's current feature set was less than ideal for real-time updates.

Game threads would blow up to thousands comments with no option to distinguish between good ones that informed you about something happening, a gif of a foul or goal for instance, and comments that would express opinions or were used to discuss certain aspects of a game.

Access blocked files and folders with Long Path Fixer for Windows

Sometimes when you move files or folders from another system to a Windows PC, you may notice that you cannot work with those files or folders in the usual way.

While the files and folders may be transferred without incident to the system, for instance by downloading and extracting an archive on it, it may not be possible to delete, rename, move or copy these files.

How to analyze a program’s Internet connections in a minute

There are times where you want to monitor if a program connects to the Internet. Maybe you have just downloaded it and want to check if it connects to servers on the Internet.

This can be used to check if a program is phoning home for instance, or if it is making connections on its own without being initiated by you.
