First look at Veeam Endpoint Backup Free

Veeam is best known for its enterprise and business offerings in the cloud. The company released a free backup application recently called Veeam Endpoint Backup Free which is currently available as a beta version. The product should not be confused with Veeam Backup Free Edition which is also available.

The main difference between the two is that the latter enables you to backup virtual environments while the former Windows-based desktop and laptop PCs.

How to remove Twitter favorites quickly

If you have favorited a lot of Twitter messages, either by accident or on purpose, you may at one point in time like to remove favorites again.

You may know that I run the monitoring service deez.io and I tried various marketing techniques to get the word out about it. One of them was to use a service that promised to get targeted followers.

I found out later that the service favorited all messages on Twitter that used keywords that I specified in the interface. Ended up with more than 6000 favorites in a matter of days.

Sign in to a Windows 10 account automatically on start

Whenever I set up a new Windows PC at home I configure it to sign in to an account automatically.

This bypasses the user selection screen and the need to enter the account password during sign in on the computer.

While that is great if you are the only user of the system or have other means of protection such as full disk encryption in place, it means that anyone with access to the PC can sign in to the selected account as well.

Mozilla revealed Daala back in mid-2013 and has been working on the video compression technology ever since.

How to find apps in Windows Store that don’t show in the results

Windows Store is the place to find, download and install applications for the Windows operating system.

It shipped initially with Windows 8 and will also be available in the upcoming operating system Windows 10.

As you may know, I run a weekly series over at Betanews in which I review new apps and games released for the Windows operating system.

I use the search in Windows Store quite often to find games and apps that I want to take a closer look at, and that works fine most of the time.

Retrieve serial numbers, product codes and login information on Windows with recALL

Whenever you are moving from one PC to another, or upgrading your current one by installing a new operating system, you may want to take certain applications, programs and information with you.

If you paid for a program for example, you may want to keep on using it on the new PC.

The same is true when you re-install a software on the system or upgraded to a new version which did not carry over information stored by the old version.

Manage Language Packs in Firefox with Language Manager

When users download the Firefox web browser they select a default language the browser ships with. This language is used in the interface and also for spelling correction.

Firefox would not be Firefox if there were not options to customize this after installation. You can install different dictionaries for example which can be mighty useful if you write in different languages.

There are also language packs that you can install. Unlike dictionaries which just add spell-checking capabilities, language packs can be used to switch the interface language of the browser.

How to highlight and copy text on sites that block it

Every now and then I come across sites on the Internet that prevent you from copying some or all of the text displayed to the clipboard, or even selecting it in first place using the mouse or keyboard.

I noticed this on a bank's site recently for example where I was not allowed to copy the bank account number to the clipboard.

This guide looks at methods to overcome the limitation put in place by websites on the Internet. But first, why do sites implement these restrictions in first place?
